Since Capcom is picking out characters which aren't that well known, for CvS2. I know they have made alot more than Capcom..from WH..to..SS..to..FF, ect. Keep in mind, a lot of the fighters for the Neo Geo were made by thrid parties like ADK, Visco, Sunsoft and Hudson. So technicaly, they cannot be used because they were not necessarily created by SNK. Without going into all the sequals, here is a list of SNK and non-SNK fighters SNK Fighters: King Of Fighters Fatal Fury Garou Real Bout Art Of Fighting Samurai Shodown Last Blade Savage Reign Kizuna Encounter (technically the sequal to Savage Reign) Fight Fever Gals Fighter Non-SNK Fighters: ADK: World Heroes, Agressors of Dark Combat Sunsoft: Galaxy Fight, Waku Waku 7 Hudosn: Kabuki Klash Data East: Fighters History Dynamite Visco: Breakers, NinjaMasters Technos Japan: Gowcaiser Also, wasn't Raynaguard a non-SNK made fighting game for the Neo Geo? This would explain why some of the cool characters from some of the other Neo Geo fighters couldn't be used. There are probably titles I'm leaving out... hopefully someone like Neo Rasa can help out with putting in the missing titles. Posted by ytz16 on 05:17:2001 09:02 PM: but all things considered.. I'd rather have an obscure character from a game that was half decent and that SOME people new about... than say, an obscure character from an even more obscure game.. that would take away from the whole idea of having CvsS2 as a 'dream match' kinda game Posted by Miang on 05:17:2001 09:16 PM: I think Fatal Fury in Japan is "Garou Densetsu", they're the same series. For whatever reason SNK just decided to leave Mark of the Wolves entitled Garou instead of changing the name like they usually did. For whatever reason SNK just decided to leave Mark of the Wolves entitled Garou instead of changing the name like they usually did. You're correct. Garou as originally going to be called Fatal Fury 4: Mark of the Wolves in the US, but SNK figured that besides me and maybe ten other people in the US no one was keeping track of which Fatal Fury it was continuing from or based on. Posted by HwangX on 05:17:2001 09:26 PM: Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny ? whats that? could you enlighten me o' knowledgable SNK guru? Posted by Neo Rasa on 05:17:2001 09:27 PM: It's the Neo Geo Pocket Color port It's a literal merger of Last Blades 1 and 2 into a single game, containing all the music, endings, modes, etc. from both. Posted by HwangX on 05:17:2001 09:32 PM: oh, and whats the differance between Samurai Showdown and Samurai Showdown! ? Enlighten me here too Funny, and I had LB: BtD I always thought it was Last Blade Pocket Posted by ytz16 on 05:17:2001 09:41 PM: I like cheese. Posted by Neo Rasa on 05:17:2001 09:42 PM: Well, it says 'Beyond the Destiny' on the box somewhere and on the title screen Anyways the official spelling of the game is Samurai Shodown. SS3 was done by a different team than the group that did the first 2 and for whatever reason a lot of the US marquees and inserts for the game had it spelled Showdown instead of Shodown. I think this happened in limited numbers to the other US Samurai Shodown game marquees as well, but SS3 is the one where it's the most common. O_O; Posted by HwangX on 05:17:2001 09:48 PM: on LB: BtD again....did you have the UK or the Japanese cartridge? If you had the Japanese, was it written in Kanji? Posted by DarkBlade77 on 05:17:2001 09:50 PM: !!! They have a LB game for NGPC?!?!? *rushes off to EBay and prepares to blow all his cash* Posted by Neo Rasa on 05:17:2001 09:54 PM: It was being released just as SNK ended up having to pull out of the United States and Europe, so it got a full Japanese release (which I own, it's all in Japanese, full mix of kanji, hiragana, etc.) and a very limited UK/European release. I've seen the European release sell for anywhere between $40~$80 on ebay, best of luck to you if you've got the money to spend. Posted by DarkBlade77 on 05:17:2001 10:10 PM: That is, in a literal sense, LB2 for Neo Geo without any sprite loss(WOOHOO!! ). Posted by Neo Rasa on 05:17:2001 10:16 PM: ShinIce: That was a port of the NeoCD port of the original Neo Geo game. I didn't list it because it features no new characters, weird sound synching, and less frames of animation than the original. Posted by DarkBlade77 on 05:17:2001 10:19 PM: Oh. I thought it didn't have any, or at least that's what I read somewhere... Posted by Neo Rasa on 05:17:2001 10:21 PM: Don't feel bad, IGN, Gamespot, and several other sites said that it was the best version of the game ever made. I'll assume it's the only version of the game they've ever played. And also, the Neo Geo has INSANE ram and sprite capabilities, it's not like the DC port looks or sounds BAD by any means Posted by DarkBlade77 on 05:17:2001 10:25 PM: Ah well, back to NeoRageX. Psycho Soldier: She's in SNK Gals Fighters, which was on the list before the KoF games, so she's listed there. Anyways, the point is that there's 208 characters (to my knowledge) to work with, all of which could have been given pretty badassed makeovers for Capcom vs. SNK 2. I personally am surprised that Shiki is not in it considering her popularity among SS fans and how they added Maki in on the Capcom side. The ones that are basically now inhouse developers for SNK are ADK, Yumekobo, Aicom, Nazca, Saurus, Garapagos, and one other that I can't remember at the moment. Then in turn (later on)I believe Capcom bought out most of SNK (stock and such). This is very, very, VERY untrue. So couldn't Capcom in turn use some of the characters from those games? Nope, SNK still has to give it's approval over what characters go where. Also I don't think SNK had any connection to dataeast? I am not really sure. No real connection. Data East, Taito, what was left of Technos, Tradewest, etc. are all basically one company right now. big props go to neo rasa Thanks. I listed nine of the characters as unnamed because Ryo Sakazaki and Tendo Gai are the only ones I knew for sure (I just remember Rob Python, Takato, etc. recently) and there are eleven characters in it total (I'm almost positive). It's a pretty unusual game, you walk back and forth, block, etc. with the BUTTONS, and do your attacks with the joystick, it has a very deep grappling system too. The closest thing I can compare it is the UFC game on the Dreamcast. Posted by Crayfish on 05:23:2001 11:38 PM: buriki 1 Sorry wasn't paying attention, sounds like an interesting game though.
